I was in Paris about 3 years ago. Twelve of us went to Poland to lead a Women's Christian conference then stopped off in Paris to see one of our friends that was a missionary. We had a blast.
ReplyDeleteThere was an incident on the steps going to the subway with several of our ladies and a pick pocketer.... while one person bumped a lady another one unzipped her backpack and stole her wallet. Typical bump into kind of snatcher....
Another night, we went to the Eiffel Tower and had dinner then off to the top for the view. It was packed on the elevator going up and when you got to the top... they had security up there but 2 of our ladies got hit by pick pocketers... they were even holding on to their purses on their shoulders... They are professionals... it is very crowded there... they even have signs up to watch for pickpocketers.... but they just over came the ladies, started bumping them in this horrible crowd and took their wallets .... they screamed at the guys and the guys took off running... security comes over, takes our ladies down to security where there were about 8 other people that had gotten hit too. They said it is a constant stream of people that get hit every day... the night is the worst, but that is when you have the most fantastic view too ... of course all tourist ... You would think that if it happens all the time they would have better security... but they don't... the thing of it is ... we are so involved in the view that they we are all easy targets.
OK... That is my tip of the day... the subways... and the Eiffel Tower. Beware.
